Visiting Homemaker Service, Inc. is a private, non-profit, in-home health agency that has served Monongalia County families with reliable professional home care since 1962. VHS's professional Homemaker Home Health Aides provide care to the elderly, ill, and disabled. Homemaker Home Health Aides are trained and supervised caregivers who assist the ill, aged and disabled persons at home. Many are certified through a course approved by the National Association for Home Care and instructed by a registered nurse, nutritionists, physical therapists, home economists, emergency medical technicians, and social work professionals. The caregivers work under supervision of the agency's Registered Nurse Supervisor and are members of the Visiting Homemaker Service staff. They are paid by Visiting Homemaker Service, Inc.

Visiting Homemakers Service, Inc. is accredited by the National Association for Home Care, the national licensing agency for homemaker home health care programs across the country. It is a private, non-profit agency that receives funds from the United Way, the WV Department of Health and Human Services, the Monongalia County Commission, private donations and memorials. The agency is governed by a Board of Directors made of citizen volunteers.
